James H. Brown III, 75, beloved husband entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville.
A native of Temple, Texas, James and his wife Linda came to Brownsville in 1989 to serve as the Youth Pastor at Good Shepherd Church, which was then located in downtown Brownsville. James served in that capacity for sixteen years. James loved the youth entrusted to him as if they were his own. He and Linda took them on numerous excursions and church camp trips. James was stern but loving.
In his spare time, James loved all types of arts and crafts. James was very talented there wasnt anything he couldnt do once he set his mind on it. He loved to paint, photography, ceramics etc.
He was a loving and devoted husband to Linda, his wife of 40 years and he spoiled her rotten until his illness made it impossible to do. James was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known him and been a part of his life.
James was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan David Brown his parents, Evelyn and James H. Brown Jr. a brotherinlaw, Chester DeSpain and one niece and two nephews.
Left behind to eternally treasure his memory is his loving wife, Linda Kay Brown a sister, Lillian Glen Gribble and their children two sistersinlaw, Connie Tom Crick and their children and Ila DeSpain.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014, in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15th at DarlingMouser. Mr. Brown will be transferred to San Antonio where burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17th, at Mission Burial Park, 20900 Highway 10W, San Antonio, TX 78215.
