James Matthew Reyes

James Matthew Reyes, 23, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Sept. 29th, 2016, in Brownsville, Texas.

James was a lifetime resident of Brownsville. He was a proud member of the Class of 2011 at Homer Hanna High School. After graduation, James studied to be an EMT at UTB/TSC. James was a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. James was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed, not only by his family and friends, but by all those fortunate to have known him.

James was preceded in death by his father, Francisco "Frank" Reyes Jr.; his maternal grandfather, Frederick W. Foerster; and his paternal grandfather, Francisco Reyes Sr.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his loving mother and step-father, Rebecca Rose Foerster Reyes and Clemente Tomas Torres; 2 sisters: Samantha P. Galindo and Merida E. Torres; his brother, Nicholas A. Torres; his maternal grandmother, Rosa A. Foerster; his paternal grandmother, Maria Delia Reyes; his maternal aunt and uncles: Michelle A. (Gloriah A. Lucas), Frederick W. (Rosa) Jr., Steven A., John F., and William P. Foerster; his paternal uncles: Eduardo (Veronica), Samuel (Mary), and Gregorio (Jennifer) Reyes along with numerous cousins and other extended family members and friends.

Visitation will start at 4:00 pm and continue through 9:00 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 pm Wednesday evening. The Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1914 Barnard Rd., Brownsville. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

James' uncles: Eduardo, Samuel, Gregorio Reyes and William P. Foerster along with Antonio Guerra and Esai O. Torres are honored to be serving as James' pallbearers. Nicholas A. Torres, C. Tomas Torres, David Guerra, Roberto E. Galindo, and David J. Hinojosa will serve as honorary pallbearers.
