Celebrating the Life of James William Bock
March 7, 1945 - June 30, 2021
Our sweet Jamie was the coolest, calmest and most collected guy you’d ever meet. He always moved forward and lived for the present. He was a positive man, a good listener and loved to talk about all things close to his heart but mostly loved talking about the weather and sports. He was kind, generous, thoughtful, respectful and adventurous. Aside from spending every moment he could with his wife Griselda and pets Penny Marie and Katy Jane (who he loved dearly) he was a collector of many things to include Star Wars memorabilia, coins, trains, helicopters, cars, movies music, and anything from the Olympics. He was also a huge Texas A&M fan.
James was born on March 7, 1945 in Fort Worth, Texas to William Otto and Betty Bock. Bill Bock, James’ dad, played football for Texas A&M University. His mom Betty was one of the first early women pharmacists in Texas and worked at the family owned drug store and his grandmother Reba Baldwin Bock was the Walker County treasurer for eight campaigns and one of the early Texas women elected into office.
He grew up in Groveton, Texas and played football for the local high school team. After high school, he attended Sam Houston State in Huntsville, Texas and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in August of 1968.
Soon after college, James served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he was a helicopter pilot and received the following honors: National Defense Service medal, Army Aviator badge, Good Conduct medal, Air medal nine oak leaf clusters, Bronze Star medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross, and Army Commendation medal.
He was extremely proud of his time served in the U.S. Army.
He was a proud longtime resident of Brownsville, Texas and worked at Keppel AmFELS as the purchasing officer from 1992 until his retirement in 2020.
James was the most loving husband to his spouse Griselda Bock for twenty-two years, as well as an amazing father to Jesse Balboa (Alison) and Monica Pavich (Michael). He was also the father figure to John Bock.
Aside from being an incredible husband and father, James was also the best grandpa to Jesse Anthony, Anna, Mila, Mariel, Michael, and Malia.
He also leaves behind brothers Perry Bock, Jon Felock (Vicki), and sister Leslie Felock-Brown.
James will be extremely missed and we will continue to carry his heart in our hearts.
The Celebration of James’ Life will be held on Tuesday, the 6th of July 2021. Visiting hours will be begin at twelve o’clock within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral home. Military honors will begin at one o’clock with a memorial service to follow.
