Jane Dora Haney died peacefully in her sleep in her daughter's home in West Des Moines, Iowa at the age of ninety-five.
Jane was born in Brownsville, Texas in 1923 to Ernest and Anita Pinkerton. She grew up in Harlingen and was a member of the Harlingen High School Graduation Class of 1941. She earned an associate degree in business and entered into a long career of federal service.
Jane graduated from the US Immigration and Naturalization Academy in Glynco, GA to become one of the first female immigration inspectors. She worked at the Brownsville Gateway Bridge as an immigration inspector until her retirement.
Jane loved buying pretty dresses, baking cherry pies, and oatmeal cookies. She adored cardinals, mockingbirds, cats, and the color pink. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a Jehovah's Witness her entire life and passionate about her faith, specifically requesting a Jehovah's Witness service at her funeral.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Deborah (Ray) Thompson; her five grandchildren: Thomas (Rita) Thompson, Samuel (Alison) Thompson, Jacob (David) Thompson, Lucas (Amanda) Thompson, and Jane Elizabeth Thompson, eight great-grandchildren; her nephew, Bill (Patricia) Pinkerton, her nieces: Connie Sue (Hector) Pinkerton-Lopez, Julie (SAm) Wallace, and Melissa (Jay) Weinberge, and beloved cousins.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Howard Haney; her parents, Ernest Homer and Anita Galvan Pinkerton; and her brothers, Everett Ray Pinkerton and Ernest Revel Pinkerton.
We will gather to remember Jane on Thursday, July 26 in the chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11:00 with the service at 1:00 and internment at Buena Vista Burial Park to follow. Bill Pinkerton, Hector Lopez, Thomas Thompson, Samuel Thompson, Jacob Thompson, and Lucas Thompson will serve as pallbearers with Brother Jeff Feil to officiate.
