Jane Ryan Sebern, 71, a resident of Brownsville since 1950, passed away peacefully at home on August 2, 2010. She was born September 18, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to John E. and Vera Ryan and moved to Brownsville as a child. She graduated from Brownsville High School with honors in 1956. She continued her education with a degree from Gulf Park College in Gulf Port, Mississippi. After college, she pursued a career and became the private secretary to the president of Pan American Bank. She married John D. Jack Sebern, whom she met in high school, on April 16, 1960 at the First Presbyterian Church in Brownsville. During her life, Jane was an accomplished artist who exhibited her work in several prominent galleries in Texas and New Mexico. She was also an active member of the Brownsville Junior Service League.
Jane was a devoted daughter, wife, and mother. Jane also had a passion for animals. She loved them all, but was especially fond of her cats. She will always be remembered for her quick wit, strong opinion and passion for her family and pets.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jack four children, Stacey and her husband Nicholas McCord, Jon Jay, Shari, and Jeffrey and his wife Pamela six grandchildren, Victoria Jayne, Ashton Marie, Courtney Ryan, Ryan Nicholas, Jack Dakota and Christian Waters.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2010 at DarlingMouser Funeral Home East Chapel. A service will be held Friday, August 6, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park Mausoleum in San Benito. A reception will follow at VICC.
