Jean S. Perkins, 86, died peacefully on the morning of July 3, 2010, at her home. She was beloved mother, motherinlaw, grandmother and greatgrandmother.
Jean was born in San Antonio on 8211923. Her father, Ralph Stone, a pilot for Pan American Airways, moved the family first to Tampico and then to Brownsville where she graduated from Brownsville High School. After attending Incarnate Word College and SMU, she returned to Brownsville and married Lt. Del Perkins, West Point class of June, 1943, at the Sacred Heart Church in October of 1943. After Dels service in World War II, they were stationed in various cities around the world. Del and Jean retired to Brownsville in 1972. She enjoyed life with her family and friends. She loved Brownsville and the beach.
Predeceasing her were her parents, Ralph and Marguerite Stone, her brother Robert Stone and her beloved husband of 57 year, Del Perkins. Jean is survived by her sister, Janice Rovello Charles, her children, Susan Holtzman Larry, Nancy Perkins, Kay Cassinis Steve and Del Perkins, Jr. Also, her grandchildren, Kito Holtzman Dabney, David Holtzman Sarah, fiance, Chelsea Cassinis Montemayor, Nick and Michael Cassinis, Maya and Del Perkins, IV, as well as her greatgrandchildren, Destiny Holtzman, Nathan, Micah, Liam and Abigail Holtzman and Ayden Sullivan Montemayor.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at the Sacred Heart Church, Brownsville, TX, followed by burial at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Serving as pallbearers are Del Perkins, Jr, Kito Holtzman, David Holtzman, Del Perkins IV, Nathan, Micah and Liam Holtzman and Larry Holtzman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the memory of Jean Perkins to Gladys Porter Zoo, 500 E. Ringgold St., Brownsville, TX 78520.
