Jesse H. Balboa

Celebrating the Life of Jesse H. Balboa.

His journey began on August 30, 1951 in Hebbronville, Texas with his parents Jesus O. Balboa and Delfina Balboa. Jesse, also affectionately known as Jr. grew up in Brownsville, Texas. From the beginning he was a shining star, a dreamer and a doer. He was magnetic to all, a fun spirit and easy to love. He played many sports throughout his life but his biggest passion was for baseball and his parents were his biggest fans. His father called him “el vivo “the smart one because he always knew everything. He loved enlightening everyone who’d listen with all that he knew and share stories, mostly funny. He picked on his sisters and it continued even as adults but always in good fun.

He graduated from Brownsville High School in 1971 where he was an athlete and four year varsity letterman in baseball. Also known for his good looks, he was awarded Most Handsome in his class. Jesse was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served fifteen years, mostly overseas. After his time in the Navy he was a business owner and salesman.

A legend in his own time; he was a tidy man, a DJ, poet, music lover, gift giver, story teller, jokester, dreamer, adventurer, explorer, world traveler, foodie, family man, baseball enthusiast, and rich in love. He always made the best of every moment, he fiercely loved his family and friends, and had a way of turning a bad situation into a good one. He made friends everywhere and loved to give his whole heart to everyone. He was also the greatest grandpa and a superhero to many.

Jesse follows into heaven his loving parents, Jesus O. Balboa and Delfina Balboa; and his siblings Eloy Balboa, Jesus (Chuy) Balboa, Baldemar Balboa, Homero Balboa, and Delma Saenz.

Forever cherishing his loving spirit is his wife, Aurora Perez Sanchez; former spouse, Griselda Bock; son, Jesse H. Balboa II (Alison); daughter, Monica Arlette Pavich (Michael); and his siblings Otila Gonzalez, Alma Perez, Otila Fessler, Maria Pura Vicinaiz, and Rafael Balboa.

He was the loving grandfather of Jesse Anthony, Anna, Mila, Mariel, Michael (El Encue), and Malia (Cici).

Always remembering their beloved Jesse are numerous extended family members and a host of friends whom he loved so much (Los amo a todos).

The Celebration of Jesse’s life will be held on Saturday, the 7th of March 2020. Visiting hours will be held between the hours of one o’clock and four o'clock in the afternoon within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Memorial Service will commence at two o’clock in the afternoon with Pastor and family friend Jim Thornton officiating. Military Honors will be rendered at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home immediately following the memorial service Saturday afternoon, under the auspices of the V.F.W. Post #2035. Friends are invited to share their memories of Jesse with his family after the military honor presentation until four o’clock in the afternoon.

Wearing his red cape, Jesse H. Balboa, sixty-eight took his last flight straight to heaven on Tuesday, the 17th of December 2019.
