Jessie Jeffries of Brownsville, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville. She was one of seven children born to Otetell and Jessie Parchmon of Guanaja, Honduras. She married Capt. Virgil Murphy Jeffries of Guanaja, Honduras in 1944. In 1962, they moved to the United States with their children.
She was a loving wife and mother. No matter where she lived, her home was always open to those in need and her wisdom was a well of hope and guidance.
Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. Virgil Murphy Jeffries, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Elsa Liggio and Elaine Webster of Miami; her brother-in-law Elliot Jeffries of Teaneck, New Jersey; her children: Murphy Virgil Mary Helen Jeffries, Eddie Dean Mildred Jeffries, Linda Alicia Bodden and Tanya Scott all of Brownsville; her grandchildren: Richard Jeffreis, Murphy Jeffries Jr., Kurt Sona Jeffries, Annie Jessie Jeffries, and Rebecca Jeffries; her great-grandchildren: Jesse Dion Jeffries, Hayden Phillip Scott, Darian and Jordan Jeffries of Pennslyvania, Joshua Jeffries, Christian Jeffries, Destiny Jeffries, Julia Saavedra, and Ethan Dean Jeffries.
Vistiation will begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2008 in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser and continue through 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday evening. A chapel service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2008 followed by interment at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Honored to be serving as Jessies pallbearers are her son Eddie Dean Jeffries; her grandsons, Richard Jeffries, Murphy Jeffries Jr., and Kurt Jeffries; her nephew, Michael Ezekiel, and close family friend Johnny Reyna. Murphy Virgil Jeffries and Austin Gaboural will serve as honorary pallbearers.
