Jesus Maria Hinojosa Chuy, 79, our beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Uncle and Friend, entered into the Glory of his Eternal Life on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Valley Baptist Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Pharr, Texas on May 26, 1931, Chuy, as he was affectionately known to his family, friends, and customers had been a resident of Brownsville for 47 years. Together with his wife, Maximina, they owned and operated Chuys Super Restaurant 1 on International Blvd., which opened in November of 1977, and Chuys Barbacoa on Palm Blvd. He proudly served his country in the 631st Field Artillery 7th Army during the Korean War where he attained the rank of Corporal. He will be greatly missed by all those fortunate to have known him.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jesus M. Hinojosa Jr., his first wife, Irma Josefina Hinojosa his father, Teodocio Hinojosa his mother, Maria De La Cruz Hinojosa, and a son, Eduardo Hinojosa.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his loving wife of 35 years, Maximina Mendez Hinojosa their children: Maria del Rosario Mary Pancoast, Jose Luis Hinojosa, Juan Antonio Johnny Hinojosa, Irma Gerardo Aguilera, Laura Hinojosa, Cristina Cristy Rupert Bodden, Mario Alberto Hinojosa, and Marisela Mari Hinojosa Manuel de Galicia a sister, Rosa Margarita Feliciano De Leon a brother, Heberto Judith Hinojosa 12 grandchildren: Vanessa Hinojosa, Audra Victoria Pancoast, Jarrod Travis Pancoast, Samantha Josephine Pancoast, Austin Joseph Hinojosa, Michael Freeman Bodden, Mary Herminia Bodden, Laura Ashley Aguilera, Sabrina Rose Aguilera, Keila Lacy Hinojosa, Angel Hinojosa, and Oscar Meraz and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 11 a.m. and continue through 9 p.m. The Legion of the Sacred Heart at Our Lady of Good Counsel will lead the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at St. Marys Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Donna, Texas at the Donna City Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the VFW Post 2035 under the direction of Luis Lucio.
Chuys brother, Heberto Hinojosa his three sons, Jose Luis, Juan Antonio, and Mario Alberto Hinojosa his three sonsinlaw, Gerardo Aguilera, Rupert Bodden, and Manuel Galicia III and his grandson, Jarrod Travis Pancoast are honored to be serving as his pallbearers. Juan Cristobal Hinojosa, Marcos Hinojosa, Austin Joseph Hinojosa, Feliciano De Leon Jr., Christopher and Mark Galicia, and Jose Oscar De Leon will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Chuys name may be made to Msgr. Pat Doherty co St. Marys Catholic Church, 1914 Barnard Road, Brownsville, Texas 78520 for the orphanage that he ministers to in Matamoros, Tamps., Mexico.
