Joe A. Solis, 85, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 30, 2017.
Joe was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. Joe who played for the Brownsville High School Eagles, was an avid football player and fan. Joe worked in the Fishing/Shrimping industry for many years. Joe was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends, but by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Gumecindo Solis and a brother, Alfredo Solis.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Judith G. Solis; his children: Joe A. (Melba) Solis Jr., Norma Taber, and Diana Solis Searcy; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Joe will also be missed by his siblings: Elida (Manuel+) Lopez, Frances "Penchi" (Joe) De La Rosa, and Hector (Yolanda) Solis; a sister-in-law, Connie "Concha" Solis and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. and continue through 9:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Darling-Mouser. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 04, 2017, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 555 W. St Francis St., Brownsville. Entombment services will follow in the Mausoleum at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Joe's grandsons: Matthew and Mitchell Searcy, Dan Robert Taber; his nephews: Luis Carlos De La Rosa and Danny Lopez along with Hector Silva are honored to be serving as Joe's pallbearers.
