John Timothy O'Leary

John Timothy OLeary, 87, beloved husband, grandfather, greatgrandfather, brother, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Wednesday, November 06, 2013, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville surrounded by his loving family.

A native of Canada, John lived in the East Chicago, Indiana area for a number of years working for Inland Steel Co. John was a proud WWII veteran having served our country as a member of the U.S. Army. John was very proud of the fact that at the age of 19, he was the youngest Sergeant Major in the US Army.

John a devout Catholic was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years. John was a loving husband and a doting grandfather and greatgrandfather. John was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known him.

John was preceded in death by his parents a sister, Margaret OLeary a stepson, Thomas V. Ayers, and a grandson, Thomas D. Ayers.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his loving wife of 38 years, Dorothy J. OLeary two granddaughters, Megan Ayers and Tammy Greg Gronkiewicz six greatgrandchildren: Christopher and Matthews Ayers, and Dakota, Sierra, Devin, and Marina Gronkiewicz a cousin, Deborah Gleason his faithful companion and pet cat, Tiger and numerous other extended family members.

In keeping with Johns wishes, he will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 Inspiration Road, Mission, Texas. Military honors will be rendered at the graveside.
