John David Jack Sebern, 78, passed away January 2, 2014, peacefully at his home. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Jack will be remembered for his friendly nature and his love for his grandchildren, many pets, and antique cars. Jack graduated Brownsville High School in 1954 and went onto one of his other great passions, Texas AM University. There he served in the Corps of Cadets and subsequently served in the United States Army. Jack was employed by Gulf Cold Storage in Brownsville and retired from there after it was sold. He served as a Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed supporting all his childrens and grandchildrens activities from swim meets and football games to sponsoring kickball teams and driving carpool. Jack had a heart of service.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Jane his brother, Tom and a sister, Martha.
Jack is survived by his children, Stacey McCord and her husband, Nicholas, Jon Jay Sebern, Shari Sebern, and Jeffrey Sebern and his wife Pamela and his sisterinlaw, Margaret Sebern. Jack was blessed with seven grandchildren who will miss him very much, Ryan McCord, Ashton Sebern, Victoria Sebern, Courtney Sebern, Jack Dakota Sebern, Christian Sebern and Shane Sebern.
The family will always be grateful to Sylvia, Yolanda, and Norma for their loving care of the Sebern family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 6, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at Mont Meta Memorial Park, 26170 State Hwy 343, San Benito, Texas 78586. Military Honors will be rendered by the American Legion John Hanson Post 43 Funeral Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Jacks name may be made to the Childrens Museum of Brownsville, 501 East Ringgold St. 5, Brownsville, TX 78520 and 9565489300 or the charity of your choice.
