Mr. John G. Warburton, 65, our beloved father, uncle, and friend, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas.
Born in Harlingen, Texas, Geoff had been a resident of Brownsville since early childhood. Geoff graduated from the University of TexasAustin, with a Bachelors of Arts in Government. He went on to obtain a Master of Arts Degree in History from UTPan American and his Jurisprudence Doctor from the University of Houston.
Geoff taught for 9 years in both Brownsville and Bryan, Texas. After obtaining his Law degree, he practiced law for 25 years. During that time, he served as the City Attorney for Brownsville for 14 years. Geoff was very interested in U.S. History and the History of the Southwest.
Geoff was a member of the Brownsville Rotary Club and also a member of the Church of the Advent Episcopal. Geoff was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate to have known him.
Geoff was preceded in death by his parents, J.O.E. and Barbara Warburton.
He is survived by his children: Geoffrey, Alice, and William Warburton their mother, Martha Warburton a foster daughter, Ellen Lipkos and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
A memorial service is planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Geoffs name may be made to the Church of the Advent Episcopal, 104 West Elizabeth Street, Brownsville, TX 78520 and the Gorgas Science Foundation, 8435 Sabal Palm Road, Brownsville, TX 78521.
