Jorge Alvear, 87, of Olmito, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Sept. 27th, 2016, at Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Jorge was a lifetime resident of Brownsville. He was a devoted husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. Jorge was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known him.
Jorge is preceded in death by his son, Ricardo "Ricky" Alvear' his parents: Maria and Doroteo Alvear; a sister, Oralia A. Garcia; and two brothers: Alonzo and Samuel Alvear.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his loving wife of 62 years, Consuelo Lopez Alvear; six sons: Jorge Luis (Norma), Jorge Jr., Armando, Roberto, and Arnoldo "Ernie" Alvear; a daughter-in-law, Diana C. Alvear; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five brothers: Robert (Minnie), Doroteo (Nina), Antonio (Dorina), Manuel (Magdalena+), and Dionicio Alvear; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
Visitation will start at 10:00 am and continue through 9:00 pm today, Thursday, Sept. 29th, 2016, in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 pm Thursday evening. Visitation will resume at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 30, 2016. The Funeral Mass will be at 3:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson St. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. The American Legion Funeral Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the graveside.
Antonio Alvear Jr., Manuel Alvear Jr., John Cavazos, David Gracia, Peter Lopez, and Jesse Vela are honored to be serving as Jorge's pallbearers. Jorge's sons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
