Jose Oscar Barbour, 66, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle entered into the glory of his eternal life on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville with his family at his side.
A native of Bishop, Mr. Barbour had been a resident of Brownsville for more than 40 years. He served our community for more than 30 years as a teacher, director, and assistant Superintendent for the Brownsville Independent District.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Barbour; and by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Left behind to eternally treasure his memory is his loving wife of 41 years, Graciela E. Barbour; his daughter, Sandra Yvette Barbour; his 2 sons, Oscar Xavier and his wife Dawn and Daniel Barbour; his 2 grandsons, Seth Chandler and Peyton Cole Barbour; his beloved mother, Maria del Socorro Barbour; 2 sisters, Glenda Barbour and Debbie Gilbert Moreno; 1 brother, Ovidio Lilia Barbour; and 5 nieces and 4 nephews.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2008 in the West Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. in the West Chapel. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 16 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Family and friends are honored to serve as Oscars pallbearers.
