Jose Benavides, 70, of Brownsville, entered into eternal rest at Valley Baptist Medical CenterBrownsville on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Benavides proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 10 years. He was the Postmaster at the Olmito post office until his retirement in 1999.
Mr. Benavides was preceded in death by his parents, Fidencio and Brunita Benavides and a brother, Cipriano Benavides.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Irma Garza Benavides his daughters, Zoila Benavides and Gina Amos Kahn Simon his grandchildren, Bernard Kahn, Lwaxana, Cedrix and Zachary Simon and Aleesha Elizardo. sisters, Nora Roberto de la Garza, Mary Garcia and Julia Lupe Araujo and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a service at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2010 in the East Chapel of DarlingMouser Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 23, at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites to be conducted by members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2035.
