Jose Humberto Chapa

Jose Humberto Chapa, 70, of Brownsville, TX, entered into eternal rest on January 3, 2019, at Sunshine Haven Inc.

He was born in Brownsville, TX on December 14, 1948. He is preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe Chapa and Trinidad Martinez Chapa. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 23 years, Marisela F. Chapa; Step-son David L. Tumlinson, IV (Mariana) and Step-Granddaughter Ashley J. Tumlinson; brother Ernesto G. Chapa (Kay) of Wichita Falls, TX; nephew Phillip Chapa (Jenna); great-nephews Kobie and Daren Lunsford and great-nieces Sydney Chapa, Victoria Chapa, and Rylan Chapa of Decatur, TX; niece Christina Chapa Williams (Keith) and great-nieces Ashton Guess, Sarenna Guess and Charli Williams, also of Wichita Falls, TX as well as numerous family members from the Chapa and Martinez families.

Humberto graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1967. He attended Commonwealth College of Sciences in Houston where he received his Certificate in Funeral Directing and Embalming in 1970. He worked for numerous funeral homes to include Clifford Jackson Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, TX and Darling-Mouser Funeral Home in Brownsville, TX.

There will be a Memorial Mass at Immaculate Conception Cathedral at 1218 E. Jefferson St. in Brownsville, TX on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sunshine Haven, Inc. in memory of Humberto and can be sent to 7105 W. Lakeside Blvd, Olmito, TX 78575. We would like to thank all of our family, friends and St. Joseph Academy Class of 1967 classmates for the prayers, support and condolences during this time. We would also like to thank Sunshine Haven, Inc. and Kindred Hospice for their loving care and attention he received.
