Jose Elijio " Joe" Garcia

Jose Elijio Garcia, 62, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life unexpectedly on Wednesday, 18 October 2017, at Valley Baptist Medical Center with his family at his side.
Joe, as he was affectionately known to all, was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. He was the second to the youngest of ten children born to Dominga and Silvestre Garcia. In his spare time, Joe loved to go fishing. He also enjoyed bar-be-queing for family and friends while listening to Tejano music on the radio. His favorite group was Little Joe y La Familia.
Joe was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends, but by all those fortunate to have known him.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Dominga and Silvestre Garcia and 3 sisters: Maria Pilar Garcia, Felicitas G. Vallejo, and Gloria Garcia.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his loving wife of 28 years, Mary Guerra Garcia; his children: Patricia Garcia (Joel) Reyes, Rowena Garcia, Joe (Alicia) Carrillo, Marisol Carrillo and Guadalupe (Laura) Carrillo III; and 6 grandchildren that were his pride and joy: Jose Michael Carrillo Jr., Mason Carrillo, and Roman Ezequiel Carrillo, Samantha Esquivel, and Camila Carrillo. Joe will also be missed by his siblings: Guadalupe "Lupita" (Nieves+) Galvan, Josefina (Jose Javier+) Zuniga, Carolina (Jose Gabriel) Rosas, Raquel (John Steadman+) Garcia, Maria del Rosario (Carlos+) Briones and Jesus S. Garcia; along with his numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017 in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening. Visitation will resume at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017 and continue until 2:30 p.m. when we will depart for the funeral Mass, which will be held at St. Eugene de Mazenod Catholic Church, 5409 Austin Road. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. .
