Jose Ledesma Garcia, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville, on Thursday, April 26, 2018, with his loving family at his side.

Jose, was born in Linares, N.L., Mexico. He came to Brownsville as a little boy and spent the rest of his life here. Jose was a migrant worker from 1958 until 1978, traveling to Manteno, Illinois and Florida every year. During this time in 1972, Jose became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States of America. In 1985, Jose and his family became the operators of the El Jardin Pavillion. Jose was a carpenter by trade. He worked for Shelby construction in 1992 and was involved in the remodeling of the Fort Brown Hotel. In 1992, he became an independent contractor.

In his spare time, Jose enjoyed hunting and spending time with family and friends. Jose was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known his.

Jose was preceded in death by a grandson, Jayden Lee Garcia; his parents, Juana and Hilario Garcia; 2 sisters: Elvira Estrada and Estella Martinez; and 4 brothers: Pedro, Gregorio, Elidoro, and Candelario Garcia.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of Jose is his loving wife of 54 years: Josefa Salinas Garcia; his children: Celina S. Garcia, Carolina (Esteban) Rios, Hilario Garcia, and Jose (Juanita) Garcia Jr. Jose will also be missed by the 3 grandchildren that were his pride and joy, Guadalupe Castro III, Venisha Marie Colon, and Genevieve Garcia; along with 3 sisters: Hilaria (Macario+) Serrata, Florinda (Lucas) Leal, and Juanita (Alfredo) Alvarez and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended members of the family.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018 in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The recitation of the holy rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at Darling-Mouser. The Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Ave., Brownsville, Texas. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Ruben Rivera, Luis Serrata, Ricardo Estrada, Ernesto Solis Jr., Pedro Garcia, and Jorge A. Ibarra are honored to be serving as Jose's pallbearers. Hilario Garcia, Jose Garcia, Jr., Guadalupe Castro III, and Esteban Rios are honored to be serving as honorary pallbearers.
