Jose Antonio Joe Lavios, 87, our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
A native and lifetime resident of Brownsville, Joe worked for the Immigration Department as an Immigration officer for 25 years. A devout Catholic, he was a faithful parishioner for many years at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Joe was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate to have known him.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Jose A. and Lillie L. Lavios a brother, Emilio Lavios, two daughters, Blanca and Lourdes Lavios and a son, Albert Lavios.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Alida Gomez Lavios two sons: Joe and Oscar Lavios his sister, Consuelo Hebert and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
In accordance with Joes wishes, he has been cremated. The family will greet friends beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012 in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. A memorial rosary and Liturgical service celebrating his life will begin at 5:00 p.m.
