Jose Tomas Liendo, 81, our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Wednesday, April 07, 2010 at Sunshine Haven Hospice Facility surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 19, 1929, Mr. Liendo was a lifetime resident of Brownsville, Mr. Liendo served his country proudly during the WW II campaign in the United States Air Force. At the time of his discharge he had attained the rank of Staff Sgt.
He was a faithful and dedicated employee for the Rio Grande Valley Gas Co. for 35 years as a computer technician. After retirement he continued his employment with the Gas Co. delivering company mail throughout the Valley. A devout Catholic, he was a parishioner at Good Shepherd Catholic Church and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
Mr. Liendo was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will always be remembered for the energetic, social and charismatic person that he was. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his son, Rey Liendo his first wife Consuelo Leal Liendo and his parents, Eutimio Liendo Jr. and Rafarela H. Saldaa.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his wife, Maria de los Angeles Liendo his children: Tommy Lydia Liendo, Nora George Hernandez, Delma Liendo Salinas, Hector Antonia Liendo, Xavier Mary Nelda Liendo, and Juan Jesus Mary Liendo 14 grandchildren and 8 greatgrandchildren. He will also be missed by his brothers and sisters: Lupita Dionicio Sr. Garza, Josefina Eduardo Sr. Liendo, Eutimio Estefana H. Liendo III, Juan Toya Liendo, Romana Liendo George Clive, and Isidro Amy Liendo and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will begin in the West Chapel at DarlingMouser at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 9, 2010 and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Friday evening. The Liturgical Service of Christian Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2645 Tulipan St. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Tommy Lee Liendo, Gregory Hernandez, Carlos Nicolas Salinas, Hector Miguel Liendo, Christopher Liendo, and Christian Liendo are honored to be serving as pallbearers for their grandfather. Hunter Liendo will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The American Legion Post 43 Funeral Honor Guard under the direction of Commander Raul Leal will be providing military honors at the graveside.
