Jose "Joe" Angel Marks

Mr. Jose Angel Marks Jr., 72, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Doctors Hospital in Laredo, Texas.

Joe, a native of Brownsville, was the first born son of Olivia C. and Jose Angel Marks Sr. Joe graduated from St. Joseph Academy where he played on the varsity football team, in 1959. After high school, Joe joined the Air Force and served from 1959 to 1963. While in the Air Force, he trained as an electronic countermeasures technician. While serving at Shepard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX, and during the Cuban missile crisis, he worked around the clock, and was selected as Airman of the month for the base.

After his discharge, he enrolled at Texas A I, and received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and worked in that capacity most of his life, although his passion was constructing commercial buildings from the ground up. Joe was a gifted engineer. He did a lot of good everywhere he went, and it was done mostly in a quiet way and few if any knew that Joe was helping them.

Joe was the owneroperator for Marenco Inc., a construction and engineering firm, which was based out of Anchorage, Alaska and Laguna Vista, Texas. At the present time, Joe was working for Dannenbaum Engineering.

Joe was a good and decent man who was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all those fortunate to have known him.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents: Olivia C. and Jose Angel Marks Sr. and two brothers: Rodolfo Rudy and Adolfo Marks.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his loving wife, Graciela M. Marks his children: JoAnna Gerardo Ordoez, Dr. Desire Ricardo Arias PhD, Jose Angel Jennifer Marks III, Graciela Zendejas, Georgina Z. Carlos Valenzuela, Julietta Z. Jorge Gonzalez, and Daniela Zendejas and ten grandchildren. Joe will also be missed by his two sisters: Graciela Grace Antonio Fernandez and Martha Marti Randall Brooks and two brothers: Alejandro Susan Marks and Juan Antonio John Marks numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 12 Noon today, Friday, May 3, 2013, and continue through 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Friday evening in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 10:00 a.m. today, Saturday, May 4, 2013, with a Funeral Mass scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1200 Lincoln Street, in Brownsville. We ask that everyone meet at the church as there will not be a procession from the funeral home to the church. All services will conclude after the Mass, and in accordance with Joes wishes cremation will follow.

Joe Marks III, John Marks, Antonio Fernandez, Randall Brooks, Gerardo Ordoez, and Ricardo Arias are honored to be serving as Joe pallbearers. Alejandro Marks, Antonio Fernandez, Louis Jones, Daniel Davis, Isidro Garza, Timoteo Garza and Pablo Rhi will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Joes name may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1200 Lincoln Street, Brownsville, TX 78521.
