Jose C. Salgado, 84, beloved brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at his residence with his family by his side.
Jose was born in Mexico but had been a longtime resident of Brownsville. He worked for many years as an auto mechanic.
Jose was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his loving and devoted sister, Natalia S. Thurtle; his children: Jose A. Salgado, Laura Salgado Martinez and her husband Benjamin, and Maria de Jesus Salgado Valdez and her husband Mauricio; his grandchildren: Laura C., Elizabeth, and Sofia B. Martinez, and Sebastian and Sara Valdez; his nephew, Eleazar Salgado and his wife Isabel along with additional nieces and nephews, and extended family members.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2021, in the West Chapel at Darling-Mouser with a chapel service scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening. You may view the service virtually online at www.darlingmouser.com. All services will conclude Thursday evening and cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, Jose’s family is requesting that memorial gifts in his name be made to Sunshine Haven Hospice Facility, 7105 W. Lakeside Blvd., Olmito, Texas, 78575 and 956-350-8400.
Jose’s family is requesting that all those attending services please wear a mask to ensure everyone’s well being. At this time, we ask that food not be brought in to the funeral home. We thank you in advance for your cooperation with these requests.

José C. Salgado, 84, amado hermano, padre, abuelo, tío, y amigo entro a la Gloria de su vida eterna el miércoles, 25 de agosto del 2021 en su casa rodeado de su querida familia.
José nació en México pero tenía muchos años de ser residente de Brownsville. Su oficio fue ser mecánico de autos.
José fue muy amado y será profundamente extrañado no solamente por su familia pero por todos aquellos que tuvieron la fortuna de conocerlo y convivir con él.
Lo recordarán para siempre su querida y devota hermana, Natalia S. Thurtle; sus hijos: José A. Salgado, Laura Salgado Martinez u su esposo Benjamín, y María de Jesús Salgado Valdez y su esposo Mauricio; sus nietos: Laura C., Elizabeth, y Sofía B. Martinez, y Sebastián y Sara Valdez; su sobrino, Eleazar Salgado y su esposa Isabel; junto con sobrinas y sobrinos adicionales y familiares extendidos.
El velorio será de 2 a 9 p.m. el jueves, 26 de agosto del 2021, en la Capilla Oeste de la Funeraria Darling-Mouser. Se llevará a cabo un servicio religioso a las 6 de la tarde. Podrá ver virtualmente el servicio religioso en el www.darlingmouser.com. All services will conclude Thursday evening and cremation will follow.
