BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Jose Barrios Garcia entered into eternal rest on Friday, the 24th of February 2023 in the comfort of his Brownsville residence surrounded by his loving family. He was eighty-three years of age.
Jose was born in Brownsville, Texas on April 11, 1939, son of Gilberto Garcia, Sr. and Juanita Barrios Garcia. He loved God, his life, and his family tremendously. Jose had personal relationships with all of his family members and instilled within his children good work ethics and respect. He will forever be remembered as the greatest man ever and will be greatly missed by all of those fortunate enough to have known him.
Preceding Jose in death were his parents, Gilberto Garcia, Sr. and Juanita Barrios Garcia; and his brothers and sisters Francisco Garcia, Isidro Garcia, Gilberto Garcia, Jr., Jose Guadalupe Garcia, Petra Cisneros, Maria de Jesus Garza, Margarita Rodriguez, Manuela Garcia, and Maria Elena Gallardo.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of sixty-three years, Juanita Rocha Garcia; his children Gerardo “Jerry” Garcia, Juan Jose “Kookie” Garcia, Leo Ivan Garcia, David Garcia, Sr., and Jo Ann Garcia; in addition to his nineteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, the 28th of February 2023 between the hours of one o’clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
Visiting hours will resume on Wednesday, the 1st of March 2023 between the hours of eleven o’clock in the morning and nine o'clock at night, with a prayer service to begin at six o’clock Wednesday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
A Chapel Service will commence at twelve noon on Thursday, the 2nd of March 2023. Interment will immediately follow, via an escorted procession, at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville.
Honored to be serving as his pallbearers are Gerardo Garcia, Juan Jose Garcia, Leo Ivan Garcia, David Garcia, Sr., Juan Jose Pacheco, Jr., Leo Garcia, Jr., Louie Garcia, Juan Jose Garcia, Jr., David Garcia, Jr., and Miguel Angel Diaz.
Honorary pallbearers are Juanita Rocha Garcia and Jo Ann Garcia.
