BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Jose Catarino Sanchez, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, the 29th of July 2020 at the age of seventy-three in Harlingen, Texas.
Jose was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He was a devout and faithful Christian who loved and served The Lord Jesus as a Pastor and usher at the church he attended. Jose also worked in construction as a bricklayer. His favorite pastimes were spending quality time with his precious grandchildren, watching soccer games, and enjoying the outdoors with his passion for gardening. Jose will always be remembered for his many jokes, hardworking ethics, and for his healthy and strong personality and will be missed dearly.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years who entered into eternal rest on the 5th of July 2020, Mrs. Maria Teresa Loza Sanchez; their son who entered into eternal rest on the 11th of July 2020, Jose Catarino Sanchez, Jr., and by their daughter, Laura Veronica Sanchez; parents, Jose Sanchez and Petra Gaytan Sanchez; and by his brothers Alejandrino Sanchez, Fausto Sanchez, and Maurilio Sanchez.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters Marissa Moreno (Jose Angel), Laura Gonzalez (Alfredo), and Dalilah Lara (Leonel); daughter-in-law, Dioana B. Sanchez; fourteen grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; siblings: Virginia Sanchez, Caritina Briseno (Enrique), and Yolanda Garza (Eudulio); sister-in-law, Pura Virginia Sanchez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
All funeral services will be held on Wednesday, the 12th of August 2020. Visiting hours will begin at ten o’clock in the morning. A Chapel Service will held at twelve noon with entombment services to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park Mausoleum, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Please be mindful of current cemetery restrictions and guidelines.
There is a limit of fifty persons within the funeral home at all times due to the COVID situation. Please follow current social distancing guidelines and regulations. A face mask will be required within the funeral home at all times.
