Josefa Ramos Rocha, 94, of Brownsville, Texas our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother entered into eternal rest at Valley Baptist Medical Center on Thursday, August 17, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
A native and lifetime resident of Brownsville, Pepa, as she was affectionately known to all, was a devoted wife and mother. She was a house wife and stay at home mom, until 1956 when she began a 30 year career with the BISD Food Service Dept. Pepa worked in the school cafeterias where she held several positions, lastly as a Cafeteria Manager. A devout Catholic, she attended Mass regularly at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral.
In her spare time, Pepa loved to crochet and knit for family and friends. Pepa was also a football fan and loved cheering for the Dallas Cowboys.
Pepa was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Pepa was preceded in death by her husband, Roberto Rocha; a daughter, Olivia Rocha; her sons: Roberto Jr. (Vietnam), Ruben, Rene, Rodolfo, and Raul Jose Rocha; her parents, Julia and Lorenzo Ramos; and her sisters: Ofelia Ramos Cano, Dora Ramos Garcia, and Olga Ramos Arguelles; and her brothers: Alberto "Chino", Lorenzo "Pirrin" Jr., and Ernesto "Neque" Ramos.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Julia (Reynaldo+) Ybarra, Graciela Rocha, Rogelio "Rocky" (Rosalinda) Rocha, and Norma Linda Hernandez; 20 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, great-greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.
Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at Darling- Mouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the Holy Rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Visitation will resume at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, with a Funeral Mass scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Monday afternoon at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2308 E. Tyler St. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Pepa's son, Rogelio "Rocky" Rocha Sr., along with her grandsons: Ruben Rocha Jr., Reynaldo Ybarra Jr., Roberto A. "Robbie" Rocha, Roberto M. "Bobby" Rocha, Rocky Rocha Jr., and Feliciano Garcia III are honored to be serving as Pepa's pallbearers. The rest of Pepa's grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
