Josefina "Josie" Vargas Garcia

Josefina Josie Vargas Garcia, 69, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at her residence in Brownsville, Texas surrounded by her loving family.

She was Fina to her family and Josie to her friends a woman who was totally devoted to her family. She loved cooking and spending time in her garden but what she loved most was spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Andrea.

Josie was a sales director for several years for Mary Kay Cosmetics and received numerous awards and recognition from them.

Josie was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by those fortunate to have known her.

Josie was preceded in death by her parents, Gabriela and Melchor Vargas.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of Josie is her loving husband of 40 years, Perfecto Garcia the daughter that was her pride and joy, Bernardina Nina GarciaVargas the granddaughter that was the apple of her eye, Andrea Lucia Olvera her siblings: Ana Manuel Molina, Mario Lily Vargas, Andrea Lewis Ressler, Rita Vargas, Gabriela Alfredo Vera, Sofia Emilio Ruiz, Marcela Roy Cope, Guadalupe Lupita Enrique Rodriguez, and San Juanita Alfredo Vasquez, together with numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended members of the family.

Mrs. Garcia will be in state at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, with the family starting to greet friends at 4:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The recitation of the holy rosary will take place at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson St. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
