Joseph Richard Lacher, 75, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas surrounded by his loving family.
Joe, as he was affectionately known to all, had been a resident of Brownsville for over 40 years. Joe was a nurse who touched the lives of all those he cared for at both Valley Baptist and Valley Regional Medical Centers. Joe also inspired the nursing students under his tutelage at UTB.
Joe, a devout Catholic, attended Mass regularly at Immaculate Conception Cathedral where he was also a member of the choir. Joe was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family, friends, and students but by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents: Eva and Remigus Lacher and his siblings: Philip, Clara, John, and Cathy.
Joe is survived by his two brothers: George M. and his wife Paulette and David C. Lacher, numerous nieces, nephews, Manny and other extended family members and Manny.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. and continue through 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2017, in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the Holy Rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Darling-Mouser. Visitation will resume at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August, 7, at Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson with the Funeral Mass scheduled at 10:00 a.m. All services will conclude after the Mass, and in accordance with Joe's wishes cremation will follow.
Jan Lacher Nordin, Manny Tejada, Norma M. Silva RN, Virginia M. Maxwell RN, Pedro Tejada Jr., and Jose Tovar are honored to be serving as Joe's pallbearers.
