Juan G. Cerda

Juan G. Cerda Sr., 58, beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, and uncle entered into the glory of his eternal life on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville with his family at his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nieves Cerda Sr. and Paula Garcia Cerda; and three brothers: Rafael, Moises, and Noe Cerda.

Left behind to eternally treasure his memory are his wife of 34 years, Consuelo A. Cerda; his children: Melissa Atkinson and her partner Janie Cerda and their dog Ginger; Juan Cerda Jr. and his wife Maria and their children, Prisma, Jessica Marie, Juan Cerda III, and Mia; and Christie Ann and her husband Augustin Rodriguez and their sons, Augustin Jr. and Ralph. He will also be deeply missed by his brothers and sisters: Nieves Olga Cerda Jr., Roberto Cerda, Ramiro Maria Cerda, Olga Eliodoro Prado, Diana Roland Garza, and Janie Melissa Atkinson Cerda, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August, 12 2008 and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Resurrection is tentatively scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2645 Tulipan St., Brownsville, Texas.

All services will conclude at the church and in accordance with his wishes Mr. Cerda will be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial gifts in Juans name to help with funeral expenses.
