Juan Garcia Lopez, 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Valley Regional Medical Center.
Born in Raymondville, TX in 1945 to Enrique and Margarita Lopez and raised by Albina Garcia. He lived most of his life in Brownsville, TX.
He learned the meaning of hard work at a young age by working in the cotton fields. He later became a bus driver and mechanic for the City of Brownsville. In addition, he and his wife established Lopez Tamales. Juan enjoyed all aspects of the business especially interacting with his customers.
In his spare time Juan liked to fish and to do carpentry work. His most important activity was spending quality time with his grandchildren. Juan's great sense of humor would bring joy to anyone's day and will never be forgotten. On weekends he enjoyed playing loteria at home with his wife and at church functions. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.
Juan is preceded in death by his parents Margarita and Enrique Lopez, Albina Garcia, Susana Lopez and four brothers, Santana Lopez, Margarito Lopez, Enrique Andres Garza and Tomas Lopez.
Juan is survived by his wife of 37 years Eugenia Lopez; children Lucy Lopez (Eddie) Flores, Ana Cecilia Lopez and Leonel Chinchilla; grandchildren Luis Leonel Saldivar, Dante & Darian Flores, Nohlan, Alexander and his pride and joy Juan Enrique Flores; brothers Severiano (Rosa) Lopez of Blair, OK; Jesus (Rebecca) Lopez of Altus, OK; Moises ( Michelle) Lopez of Altus, OK; Andres Lopez of Olustee, Ok; Sebastian Lopez of Oklahoma City, OK; Estella (Antonio) Hinojosa of Olustee, OK; Raymunda (Joe) Walker of Hemphill, TX; Enriqueta (Armando) Guerra of Blanchard, OK; Inez Bailey of Havelock, NC , sister-in-laws; Lucia Lopez, Hortencia Lopez, Emilia Lopez, an uncle and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 10:00am to 9:00pm with a rosary service at 7:00pm at Darling Mouser Funeral Home, 945 Palm Blvd., Brownsville, TX. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 155 E. Jefferson St. at 10:00am with burial to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park, 125 McDavitt Blvd., Brownsville, TX.
