Judge William "Billy" Abney Faulk Sr.

Judge William Billy Abney Faulk Sr., 89, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 surrounded by his family. Judge Faulk was a Brownsville native, born to Ruth Abney Faulk and Harry Lee Faulk, Sr..

He is survived by his brother, Harry Lee Faulk, Jr. and sister, Patsy Faulk Horick.

Judge Faulk was married to Bobbie Anne Brown Faulk for 62 years and blessed with seven children Judy Faulk, David Wise, Rebecca Faulk Thompson, William A. Rusty Faulk, Jr., Linda Faulk Arteaga, John Faulk, and Molly Faulk. He was a proud grandfather to 17 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

A veteran of both World War II and later, the Korean War, Billy Faulk was a proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin Law School. Judge Faulk began his law career with Sharp, Cunningham and Garza in 1952. Later, he owned and operated Cameron County Title Company and served as Brownsville Municipal Court Judge for 13 years then, practiced with the Rentfro Faulk Law Firm and most recently, operating his own private practice, William A. Faulk PC.

He always enjoyed his many years as song leader each Wednesday at noon for the Brownsville Rotary Club, golf on Saturday with his golf buddies, and his 40 years as teacher of the adult Sunday School class at the First Baptist Church of Brownsville.

Billy Faulk especially loved his work with real estate law and was a vault of historical knowledge of the land and land ownership in Cameron County. He and his faithful and trusted paralegal, Marina Alegria, practiced together for almost 30 years.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014, in the East Chapel at Darling Mouser Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at the First Methodist Church, 1225 Boca Chica Blvd., Brownsville, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Judge Faulks name may be made to the Good Neighbor Settlement House, 1254 E. Tyler Street, Brownsville, Texas 78520.
