Julio Gonzalez II died on Sunday, July 22, 2012 in Beaverton, Oregon. He was 29 years old.
Julio was born in Brownsville on October 18, 1982, the youngest child of Isaura and Julio Gonzalez. Little Julio, as his family called him, was a smart and playful kid who grew into a thoughtful and funloving adult. He had a beaming smile, an infectious laugh, and a wicked sense of humor. His family adored him, and his friends and acquaintances were drawn to his easygoing and likeable personality. He was a great cook and an avid reader who loved discussing philosophy and politics. He was a 2001 graduate of Hanna High School.
Julio served our country bravely as a United States Marine from 20052009 and applied the core values of honor, courage, and commitment in his daily life.
Julio was an outdoor enthusiast, and after graduating from the University of Texas at Brownsville in 2011, he moved to Beaverton, Oregon to pursue his interests in fishing, hunting, cycling, hiking, and kayaking. Most recently, he became a District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America, Cascade Pacific Council in Portland, Oregon.
Julio was committed to scouting, helping others, and serving his country and community. He was sensitive, generous, dependable, and kind. He was a respected and beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, colleague and friend to many. In his alltoobrief life, he touched many people. Fond memories remain with all who had the privilege to have known him.
Julio is survived by his parents, Isaura and Julio Gonzalez his grandmothers, Jane Zamora and Victoriana Gonzalez his sister and brotherinlaw, Isselle and T.J. Raguso his sisters, Elizabeth Gonzalez, Krisna Gonzalez, and Julissa Gonzalez his nieces and nephews, Cybelle and Diego Cerda and Thomas and Katherine Jane Raguso many other loving relatives and numerous friends.
The family will start to greet friends and relatives beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2012 in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser with a memorial service celebrating Julios life scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. Friday evening.
