BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Kaye Koger Kimberling, affectionately known as KK by many, was born in Sacramento, California on the 28th of October 1944. On Monday, the 21st of April 2025, Kaye was reunited with her mother and father, Virginia Thomas Koger and Joe Ellis “J.E” Koger, in Heaven.
Kaye married her “catch” and love of her life, Gary Kimberling, on August 12, 1967, in Denton, Texas. They were married for 57 years. To be closer to family and the coastal and cultural fabric of the Rio Grande Valley, Kaye and Gary moved to Brownsville in 1973.
A dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, Kaye had a lifelong passion for service to organizations in the Brownsville community. This included a 27 year seat on the Board of Directors at the Gladys Porter Zoo, PEO Chapter EV President, a board seat for Order of the Serape, Charter member of the Costumes of the Americas, and member of the Pan American Roundtable, Brownsville Swim Club, South Texas Cotillion, Junior Service League, supporter of the Episcopal Day School, as well as many other organizations.
You could always find Kaye in her garden or birdwatching. She enjoyed family time, especially Sunday dinners, playing cards, shopping, needlework, and traveling the world with her copilot Gary and friends.
Kaye is survived by her husband, Gary Kimberling; her two children, Leslie Kimberling Jones and Jeffrey Kimberling; her four grandchildren and their spouses, Haydn Jones and his wife Makayla, Kaylee Muñoz and her husband Mark, Michaela Jones, Travis Jones; four great-grandchildren, Colton and Eliana Muñoz, Riley Kaye and Reagan Jones; sisters, Lynda McCrocklin and Cynthia and Jim Alderson; and numerous extended family members.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, the 28th of April 2025 between the hours of ten o’clock in the morning and twelve noon within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will follow, via an escorted procession from Darling-Mouser Funeral Home, at one o'clock in the afternoon at the Church of the Advent, Episcopal, 104 W. Elizabeth Street, Brownsville. All services will conclude at the church and a reception will follow at a location to be announced at the service.
Honored to serve as her pallbearers will be Haydn Jones, Travis Jones, Mark Munoz, Gray Griffen, Ryan Leahy, and Matt McCrocklin. Honorary pallbearers are Quint Bowers and Merit Leahy.
