Larry E. Adkins, 74, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, entered into eternal res on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Spanish Meadows Nursing Home.
Larry was born in Avoca, NE on Jan. 23, 1936. He proudly served his country as a member of the Army of the United States for 20 years. After his retirement from the military, Larry embarked upon several endeavors that kept him busy up until his retirement. Larry had been a resident of Brownsville for numerous years.
Larry loved to go hunting, camping, and travelling in his motor home. He also loved to cook and was famous for his BarBQue sauce.
He was preceded in death by his parents his first wife Marilyn a son, David Eugene Adkins and a brother, Richard Adkins.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his loving wife of 18 years, Sandra Sandy F. Adkins a son, Steven Ray Terri Adkins, of Lincoln, NE 6 stepchildren: Kirk Christy Trombly Doug Cathy Wargo, Scott Alicia Peterson, David Wayne Bryan, Jon Carl Bryan, and Katrina Faye Bryan 1 brother, Gail Adkins his motherinlaw, Esther Gottfried, and numerous grandchildren and inlaws.
In accordance with his wishes, Larry will be cremated. Larrys family will be receiving friends from 24 p.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The VFW Post 2035 Funeral Honor Guard under the direction of Luis Lucio will conduct full Military Honors at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Larrys family is requesting that memorial gifts in his name be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2035, 1801 Veterans Drive, Brownsville, TX 78521.
