Lawrence "Larry" Duane Givens

Lawrence D. Larry Givens, 45, beloved son, brother, and uncle entered into the glory of his eternal life on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas after a brief but valiant struggle with cancer.

Larry was born in District Heights, Maryland on June 20, 1962, the eighth child of John E. and Elizabeth Givens. He was a lifetime resident of Brownsville and a partner at Betty's Clothing Company. Larry had a passion for life and enjoyed it to the fullest. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, John E. Givens Jr.; his brother, Roger Givens and a sister, Katherine Diane Givens.

Left behind to eternally treasure his memory is his loving mother, Elizabeth Betty Givens; his 8 sisters, Laura Alan Duval, Debbie John Kilroy, Patricia Johnny Burns, Cynthia Buster Armstrong, Ellie Stevenson, Liz De la Fuente, Geraldine Mike Hufham, and Valerie Chris Heyse; his 3 brothers, John Penny Givens III, Philip Givens, and Peter Janie Givens; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and many firends.

Visitation will begin in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser at 10 a.m. Friday, January 25. 2008 and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1200 Lincoln St. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Larrys brothers-in-law, Alan Duval, John Kilroy, Buster Armstrong, Mike Hufham, Chris Heyse, and Will Peters are honored to be serving as his pallbearers.
