A native of Mission, Texas, Leo had called Brownsville home for 45 years. He worked for the BISD for 32 years as a teacher, counselor, adult educator, and administrator. He was an assistant principal at both Skinner and Victoria Heights Elementary Schools. Leo was an active member of numerous professional associations such as: NEA, TSTA, and AOBE. Leo was an energetic, hard-working person who enjoyed life and socializing with people of all ages. He always greeted everyone with a smile. His love of conjunto music inspired him to start taking accordion lessons and also to become a member of the South Texas Conjunto Association. His favorites pastimes included walking the mall and window shopping the Hwy. 77 Flea Market.
He fought kidney and heart disease for years, until he could no longer fight the battle. His favorite Bible passage taken from 2 Timothy 4:6-8 illustrates his long hard fought battle. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Leo will be deeply missed by all those fortunate to have known him.
