Lily Lerma Cardenas, 89, of Brownsville, entered into eternal rest on August 12, 2010 at her residence in Brownsville surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Cardenas was a founding member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of the St. Joseph Church Auxiliary, and of the Catholic Daugthers of America. She was also a Watt Director for South Texas of AFLCIO
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dionicio and Manuela R. Lerma, her husband, Salvador Cardenas, a son, Salvador Cardenas III, a daughter, Esther Cardenas, and her siblings, Consuelo Gomez, Esperanza Marron and Ramiro Lerma. She is survived by her children, Albina Isaac Saenz, of Brownsville, Antonia Tonie Jose Galindo of Houston, Jose Salvador Gloria Cardenas of Houston, Jesus Dionicio Cardenas and Patricia Pat Cardenas Mike Perez of Brownsville, 2 sisters, Amparo Lopez and Elida Jasso of Brownsville, 21 grandchildren, 15 greatgrandchildren and numerous other relatives.
Visitation will begin Sunday, August 15, 2010 at 10a.m., and continue until 9p.m., with the recitation of the holy rosary to be held at 7p.m., in the East Chapel of DarlingMouser. Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday, August 16, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with entombment to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Honored to be serving as pallbearers will be Mike Perez, Joe Galindo, David Ceballos, Joe Cardenas, Jr., Michael Cardenas and Adam Hinojosa. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Sarabia, Joe Rivera and Gabriel de Leon.
