BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Lois J. Lindemann, 80, passed away on Friday, the 25th February 2022 in Brownsville, Texas. She was born to Kermit Lindemann and Clara Bennett Lindemann on August 19, 1941 in El Paso, Texas.
Her family moved to Brownsville, Texas where she grew-up, went to school, then met and married Manuel Mireles in 1957. She then moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where she graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1959 after earning All-State honors playing the trumpet. After that, she and her family moved back to Brownsville where she worked at J.C. Penney.
In 1963, Lois and her family moved to Alice, Texas where she attended Texas A&I University, receiving a Bachelor of Education degree in 1966 while teaching in the Alice School District.
Lois and family then moved from Alice to Port Isabel, Texas in 1968 where Lois taught elementary music and was an assistant band director at Port Isabel High School until 1978. During this time, she also received a Master of Education degree in 1972 at Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas.
In 1978, Lois moved to Richardson, Texas to teach for three years before moving to Los Fresnos, Texas to teach elementary grades at several schools until her final retirement in 2008.
Throughout her life, Lois enjoyed playing trumpet, being involved in her grandchildren’s lives, and singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to every daughter, son-in-law, grandchild, and great-grandchild on each of their birthdays. Her church community and growth in her faith were important to her. Her passion was teaching and she loved the children she taught. She enjoyed keeping up with her students as they completed high school, college and into adulthood. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed the sounds of the ocean and sunsets over the bay.
Survivors include two children and their families: Terri and Tim Eagle and their children Krysta and Neal Buchanan, and James and Emily Eagle with their daughters Ashlynn, Courtney, and Raegan; Cristina and Bob Vastano and her children Brandyn De Leon and Lauryn De Leon.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, the 2nd of March 2022 between the hours of four o’clock in the afternoon and six o'clock in the evening, with a prayer service to commence at six o'clock Wednesday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.
