Luz Esquivel

Luz Esquivel, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018.

Luz was born in Olmito, Texas, the daughter of Lupe Esquivel and Otilia Ruedas. Siblings include Lupita Duell of New York, Catarino Esquivel (Frances) of Nevada, Dr. Maria Pouncey (Rich) of Florida, Juan Mejia and Santos Esquivel; predeceased by both her brother Robert Esquivel (Sophia) and sister Teresa Mayorga (Armando).

Luz spent her life in the Valley traveling occasionally to visit her siblings in Florida, New York, and Arizona.

Her caring, generous and loving nature were reflected in the names she was lovingly called: Pato, Grandma Pato, Grandma, Grandma Luz, Aunt Luz and La Tia Luz. Without a doubt, she adored her nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces. Each one held a unique spot in her heart and she cherished every moment with them.

Luz, known to her colleagues as Miss Esquivel, had an impeccable work ethic. She always worked until the job was done. Immediately after high school graduation, she began her career at Boswell Ford Company, continuing with NBC bank, and worked her way from secretary to Vice President and finally culminating her career locally with the Olmito Water Company.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2018 in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Our Heavenly Father Catholic Church, 9178 Tomas Cortez Jr Street, Olmito, Texas. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, Texas.
