Lydia Rodriguez Abundez

Lydia Abundez, 95, our beloved mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother entered into the glory of her eternal life on Friday, August 16, 2013. Lydia was born in Sinton, Texas, the second daughter of Ascension and Enriqueta Rodriguez, a pioneer family.

Lydias favorite past time was conversing in prayer with the Lord and attending praise and worship services. Lydia was a longtime member at El Buen Pastor Methodist Church. Lydia was a devoted Christian and her family is comforted by the knowledge that Lydia has entered into a better life to be with her Savior. Lydia was joined in holy matrimony to Jose Roberto Abundez, a U. S. Air Force veteran.

Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Abundez, Sr. her parents, Ascension and Enriqueta Rodriguez her brothers, Manuel, Roberto, Theodoro, Marcelo, Armando, Ascension, and Guadalupe Rodriguez and her sister, Julia Hernandez.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories are her five children: Joe Ofelia Abundez Jr., Oralia Villarreal, Odilia Joe Castillo, all from Brownsville, TX, Alfredo Elida Abundez, of Corpus Christi, TX, and Odelia Carlos Manuel Doria, of Sacramento, CA twentyone grandchildren, eleven greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon and continue through 9:00 p.m. tomorrow, Monday, August 19, 2013, with a prayer service scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Monday evening in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at Iglesia Metodista Unida El Buen Pastor, 435 Boca Chica Blvd., Brownsville, Texas. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Lydias grandsons, Joe III and Michael Castillo, Leo, Dominic, and Dimitri Villarreal, Michael and Charles Doria, and Orlando Sanchez Jr. are honored to be serving as pallbearers for their beloved grandmother.

Joe Abundez Jr., Alfredo Abundez, Joe Castillo Jr. and Carlos Manuel Doria will serve as honorary pallbearers.
