Lydia attended Mercedes High School and was valedictorian of her class of 1936. She was Chief Deputy at the Cameron County Clerk's Office for over 40 years.
Lydia was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, George J. Garcia.
Lydia is survived by her children, George A. Garcia of Mercedes, Olda M. Sulewski (Jim) and Linda Garcia, both of Brownsville. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Garcia will be in state starting at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, with the family receiving friends starting at 5:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home in Brownsville. The recitation of the rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015 at Saint Luke Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Dr., Brownsville, TX. Entombment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park in Brownsville.
