Lydia de los Santos Gonzalez, 85, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother entered into the glory of her eternal life on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Solara HospitalBrownsville surrounded by her loving family.
Lydia, a native of San Benito had been a resident of Brownsville for numerous years. Lydia, a devout Catholic was a parishioner of St. Lukes Catholic Church. Lydia loved to bake, travel, and arts and crafts, but her true passion was dancing with and taking care of her partner of 64 years her beloved husband Benito. Lydia was totally devoted to her husband and her family. She was always there for her children and her grandchildren and would drop everything at a moments notice to help take care of her grandchildren. Lydia would motivate and encourage her grandchildren to do their best and aim for the stars.
Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Mary de los Santos and a brother, Daniel de los Santos.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her is her beloved husband, friend, and companion of 64 years, Benito Gonzalez Sr. her children: Norma Robert Bobby Santa Ana, Noe Mary Ellen Gonzalez, Benito Stella Gonzalez Jr., and Ana Maria Curtis Peterson 11 grandchildren: Veronica Ronnie Hector Alanis, Robert Bobby Zulema Santa Ana Jr., Benito Libby Gonzalez III, Marco Antonio Gonzalez, Kevin Andrew Melony Peterson, Lorraine Seph Price, Staci Gonzalez, Celia Gonzalez, Cecilia Santa Ana, Cody Peterson, and Sierra Gonzalez and 13 greatgrandchildren that were the apple of her eye her sisterinlaw, Maria de los Santos and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews from the de los Santos family.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Tuesday Evening. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at St. Lukes Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Dr. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Hector Alanis, Benito Gonzalez III, Marco Antonio Gonzalez, Cody Peterson, Seph Price, and Bobby Santa Ana Jr. are honored to be serving as Lydias pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be: Veronica Ronnie Alanis, Zachary Alanis, Sierra Gonzalez, 2nd Lt. Kevin Andrew Peterson, Danny Robles, and Cecilia Santa Ana.
