Manuel C. Gallegos, 94, of Edcouch, entered into eternal rest at his residence on Sunday, September 1, 2019 surrounded by loving family.
He was born in Linares, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and was a farmer his entire life. He instilled in his children the importance of an education and hard work. When working as migrant farmworkers in Michigan, he never had his children miss a day of school to leave early or by returning late at the end of the summer.
Left to eternally treasure their memories of him are his loving wife of 70 years, Maria Guadalupe “Lupita” Gallegos; his children, Maria (Elias) Zambrano, Manuel Gallegos, Jr., Terie (Fred) Arispe, Guadalupe Gallegos, Juan Jose (Margarita) Gallegos, Conchi (Adrian) Ramirez, Meli (Tom) Aldrich and Janie (Fred) Zuniga. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Oralia (Guillermo) Davis, Luisa (Pedro) Flores, Juanita Medina and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Eternal Light Funeral Home, 201 N. Broadway St. in Elsa, Texas with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2019.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2019 at St. Theresa of Infant Jesus Church, 200 Salazar St. in Edcouch, Texas. As per his wishes, he will be cremated immediately following the funeral mass.
Honored to be serving as his pallbearers are Manuel Antonio Gallegos, Freddy Arispe, Juan Gallegos, Jr., Adrian Domingo Ramirez, and Joshua Saldana, John Peter Ramirez and Felix Garza, Jr.
