Manuel Ramon Garcia,Sr. 84, our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, greatgrandfather, uncle, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 30, 1926, Mr. Garcia was a lifetime resident of Brownsville. He served his country proudly during the WW II campaign in the United States Navy.
An air conditioning and refrigeration technician by trade he worked for John H. Earl Hunter AC for 20 years and then became the owneroperator of his own business, Garcias Air Conditioning. He was a parishioner of St. Lukes Catholic Church.
Ramon loved spending time outdoors. He loved gardening and had a green thumb. He was especially proud of his tomato plants. He enjoyed sitting on his porch passing time with his family and neighbors, and plants. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gavino and Escolastica Garcia his brothers, Jorge, Gavino Jr., Sabino, Guillermo Willy, and Juan Garcia and 2 sisters, Antonia Chata Medrano and Benita Garcia.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his wife of 62 years, Maria Antonia Garcia his children: Sylvia Todd McCutcheon, Manuel Garcia Jr., Mario Garcia, Daniel R. Nelda Garcia, Cynthia Guy Gonzalez, Belinda Michael Garza, and Robert Garcia twelve grandchildren: Kevin Carmen Garcia, Albert Gonzalez, Alex Fernanda Garcia, Elisa Gonzalez, Matthew Garcia, Anthony Gonzalez, Jeremy Garcia, Thomas Tommy Garcia, Leah Garcia, Kimberly Garcia, Katie Rose Garcia, and Christian Garcia two stepgrandchildren Monica and Richard Avila, two greatgrandchildren: Isaac Anthony and Sarai Inez Gonzalez two sisters: Angelita Hela Molina and Rosa Molina and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 12 noon and continue through 9 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser. The recitation of the holy rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at DarlingMouser. The Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, August 25, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Lukes Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Ave. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2035 will render military honors at the graveside under the direction of Commander Luis Lucio.
Mr. Garcias grandsons are honored to be serving as pallbearers for their beloved grandfather.
