Manuel "Meme" M Marroquin Jr.

Manuel M. Marroquin Jr., 70, our beloved father, fatherinlaw, grandfather, nephew, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Valley Baptist Medical CenterBrownsville surrounded by his loving family.

Meme as he was affectionately known was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. He was a proud veteran of the Viet Nam Conflict having served his country in the US Army. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He was a devout Catholic and had great devotion to Our Lady and praying the rosary which he did at 3 p.m. daily. He loved watching boxing and in his youth had been a Golden Gloves Champion at Brownsville High School in 1959. Meme had quite a sweet tooth but he especially enjoyed and truly savored his bowl of ice cream. He enjoyed spending time and being around the 3 grandchildren that were his pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Marroquin and Joaquina Martinez Marroquin.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of him is his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Rosemary Marroquin his daughter, Rosalinda and her husband Clay Haverland 2 sons: Manuel Manny III and his wife Renee Leticia and Rodolfo Rudy and his wife Alexandra 3 grandchildren: Nicholas NickAndrew, Alexis Nicole, and Eric Anthony Marroquin his sister, Oralia Lala Marroquin, and two aunts, Magdalena Garza and Delfina Villarreal.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 23, 2010 and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. this evening in the East Chapel of DarlingMouser. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the American Legion Post 43 Funeral Honor Guard under the direction of Commander Raul Leal.
