Margaret M. Bergen

Margaret Alice Musick Bergen, 83, of Los Fresnos, our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend left this life for her heavenly home on March 6, 2015 at her home.

Margaret was born in Houston, TX in 1931 to Margaret Arthur Radke and Martin Vesta Musick and raised for the most part by her grandparents, Maggie and Herman Radke in Kemah, TX.

She married while still in high school and later had three precious daughters: Victoria Lynn, Valeria Lenore, and Vanessa Leslie-the delights of her life. She later married DeHart Bergen, her husband of 29 years, and gained two step-daughters which she cherished.

In 1983, Margaret accepted Jesus as her personal savior resulting in years of Bible study and devotion to intercessory prayer. Margaret became a Daughter of the King-an order for women who take a solemn vow of prayer and service to others. She was instrumental in the formation of the Hannah Chapter, now active at the Church of the Advent Episcopal in Brownsville.

Left behind to eternally treasure her memory are her daughters: Vicki McCallister, Valeria McMaster and her husband Patrick, and Vanessa Valdez and her husband Frank; her step-daughters, Joyce Dodrill Krieger and her husband Mark and Janet Dodrill; six grandchildren: Sarah McMaster, Daniel McMaster, Anthony Valdez, Mario Valdez, Marissa Valdez, and Max Krieger; two great-grandsons: Logan and Oliver Valdez; and her friend for life, Annette Horn.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Church of the Advent, Episcopal, 104 W. Elizabeth St., Brownsville, TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Margaret's name may be made to the Church of the Advent Episcopal.
