Margaret Theresa Trapp

RANCHO VIEJO, TX. - Margaret Theresa Trapp, of Rancho Viejo, Texas, passed away on Friday, the 7th of June 2024, at Solara Specialty Hospital in Brownsville, Texas. Margaret, with her husband of sixty-nine years, Ted, had been the owner and operator of Rancho Viejo Resort and Country Club for over thirty-two years. Margaret loved playing cards with her friends, training restaurant, catering, housekeeping and pro shop staff, and operating her boutique, Char-Da-Mar.

Prior to coming to The Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas, Margaret ran the bookkeeping department for Ted Trapp at T.M.T. Inc., a construction company that operated throughout Kansas City, Missouri and the Midwest. T.M.T. Inc. completed work on major shopping centers and malls, restaurants and public projects, as well as excavation on local industrial parks. T.M.T. Inc. also did the development work on its own projects.

Margaret was the only child of her parents, Fred Urech, an Army Sergeant Major and boxer at Fort Leavenworth, and his wife, Faye Glennon, a mother with an entrepreneurial spirit that ran an interior design and drapery enterprise, Window Decor, in the Kansas City area. Margaret was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, attended Center Junior High School, where she met Ted Trapp, and graduated from Redemptorist High School.

Margaret and Ted worked for a time at Hallmark in Kansas City, and Margaret also worked for a time at Putsch's Restaurant, and later as a dental assistant on the Country Club Plaza. She eventually married Ted in 1947, after his return from Naval Service in World War II. As an adult and businessman, Ted and his family lived in Overland Park, Kansas and were members of the Curé of Ars Catholic Parish.

Margaret leaves behind her son, Timothy Trapp and his wife, Mary Ann; three grandchildren, Travis Trapp of Edinburg, Texas, Lori Ann and her husband, Tyler O'Neal, of Midland, Texas, and Emily and her husband, Kenneth Preusser, of Cedar Park, Texas; and five great-grandchildren, Caleb and Aidan Goodner, Amelia O'Neal, and Charlotte and Jack Preusser.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Margaret's primary Caregiver for the last 18 months, Irma Gonzales, as well as Yolanda Guerra and Paulina Rodriguez. Prior to that, heartfelt thanks goes to Rosario (Rosie) E. Martinez, Rosario Salizar and the Trapp’s housekeeper of 20 years, Carmen Leal. The family also wants to thank Odie & Liz of Valley Care, the staff of Solara Hospital, Chaplin Bob Pitts, Deacon Noe Longoria, Valley Baptist Hospital in Brownsville, and Chaplin Paul, Spanish Meadows & Valley Regional Hospital for their attention & care.

Margaret had such wonderful friends. Many left this world too soon , but there were also many that were very much alive, and they continued to visit, and were often by her side. She loved and depended on them very much.

In lieu of floral arrangements and customary remembrances, the family requests contributions be made in memory of Ted and Margaret Trapp to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate) or to Shriners Hospitals for Children (www.shrinerschildrens.org/donate).
