Margarita Zepeda Salazar, 89, our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life on
Thursday, August 31, 2017, at her residence with her family at her side.

Margarita was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. Margarita was a Licensed Vocational Nurse who worked at Mercy Hospital (now Valley Baptist Medical Center) and at the Brownsville Community Health Clinic; where she also served on their Board of Directors. Margarita was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known her.

Margarita was preceded in death by her husband, Roberto A. Salazar; her parents, Martina Chapa and Santiago Zepeda; and two sisters: Rosenda Z. Herrera and Virginia Z. Guerrero.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of Margarita are her 5 sons: Roberto Z. Salazar Jr., José Salazar and his wife Juana F., Noe Salazar, James Salazar and his wife Alicia, and Gerald Z. Salazar; 7 grandchildren: Robert Salazar III, Yvonne Love, Brinda Rodriguez, Yvette Salazar, James Salazar Jr., and José Roberto Salazar, 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening. The Funeral Mass will be at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson St. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Margarita's grandchildren: Robert Salazar III, James Salazar Jr., José Roberto Salazar, Brenda Marie Rodriguez, Yvonne Love, and Yvette Salazar are honored to be serving as her pallbearers.
