Maria "Cuquita" Del Refugio Abrego

Mrs. Maria del Refugio Cuquita Abrego, 84, our beloved mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, entered into the glory of her eternal life on Monday, October 1st, 2012, at her daughters residence in Bayview, Texas surrounded by her loving family.

Cuqita, as she was affectionately known to all, was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. Cuquita was a devoted wife and mother who gave her all for her family. She loved to cook and spend time in her garden. A devout Catholic, she was a longtime member at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and the Club Guadalupano. Cuquita hosted several prayer groups in her home for several years. Cuquita was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate to have known her.

Cuquita was preceded in death by her husband, Genaro Abrego her parents three sisters and three brothers.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her are her two sisters: Frances R. Balderas and Flora Rodriguez three daughters: Delia A. Remberto Jr. Arteaga, Yolanda A. Juan A. Loya, and Rosalinda A. Pablo Marquez a son, Juan Antonio Abrego eight grandchildren and eleven greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, October 3rd in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home and continue through 9:00 p.m. this evening with a prayer service scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. this evening in the East Chapel. A chapel service will be held at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, October 4th, 2012, in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Cuquitas grandsons: Victor, Vicente, and Valmichael Leos, Gene and Johnny Loya, and Remberto Arteaga III are honored to be serving as pallbearers for their beloved grandmother. Vanessa Abraham, Larissa Arteaga, and Roberto Agado will serve as honorary pallbearers.
