Maria de Lourdes Acres, 91, our beloved mother, motherinlaw, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister, aunt, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville surrounded by her loving family.
Maria de Lourdes was a born on February 11, 1920 in Tuxpan, Veracruz, Mexico. She came to the United States on February 11, 1955 and sometime in 198990 became a naturalized citizen. Mama Maria as she was affectionately known loved gardening and sewing but most especially spending time with her family. Everyone in Brownsville knew Mama Maria and recognized her because she loved wearing big straw hats. Mama Maria was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate to have known her.
Mama Maria was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Maria Victoria Loya her husband, Ret. Police Capt. George P. Acres Jr. a daughter, Mary Lou Rivera her sister, Justina Loya and a soninlaw, Eddie Bermudez.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her are her children: Mary Lory Acres, George P. Gloria Acres III, Master Sergeant Ret. Robert W. Gracie Acres, James Melissa Acres, and Bernadette Bermudez 14 grandchildren, 11 greatgrandchildren plus one that is on the way a sister, Amada Javier Esparza a brother, Roberto Esperanza Loya three former sonsinlaw, Roberto Rivera, Cesar Lozano, and Carlos Canul Sr., and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
Mrs. Acres was cremated in accordance with her wishes. There will be a Memorial Mass celebrating her life at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 17th at Immaculate Conception Cathedral.
